Delray Beach
Geotechnical Engineer
We are currently seeking a Geotechnical Engineer for our Delray Beach, Florida office.
The position will include, but not be limited to, the following:
- Responsible for managing all engineering and technical operations of the Delray Beach office.
- Reviewing reports produced by staff engineers, field technicians, inspectors, and clerical staff. Signing and sealing approved reports.
- Managing and mentoring junior engineers and/or other technical staff.
- Ensuring that all projects are performed in compliance with specifications and within applicable deadlines.
- Provide technical support for all departments.
- Perform field work when necessary to meet project deadlines.
- Geotechnical responsibilities may include: subsurface soils and foundation analyses, preparation of geotechnical reports, pile load testing and reporting, and oversight and reporting of pile, ground improvement, and vibration monitoring projects.
- Inspections responsibilities may include threshold inspections, special inspections, private provider inspections and plan review, property condition assessments, and municipal support services.
- Testing responsibilities may include soils, concrete, and asphalt testing.
- Environmental responsibilities may include environmental site assessments (ESA's), site evaluation and remediation, water quality monitoring, and asbestos, lead, and Chinese drywall consulting.
- The hours for this position will vary but will generally be between 40 to 50 hours per week. Occasional night and/or weekend work is a possibility. This is a salaried position.
The ideal candidate would possess:
- A Florida P.E. License or the ability to obtain it through reciprocity. We will also consider candidates who have E.I. registration and are already scheduled to sit for the Florida P.E. exam. A Florida Special Inspector license is preferred but not required.
- Extensive experience in one or more of the following disciplines: geotechnical engineering, inspections services, environmental engineering, materials testing, and/or structural engineering.
- Proficiency with computers and Microsoft office applications. The ability to type. An aptitude for learning new software programs including engineering analysis software.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Multilingual is a plus.
- Candidates must be team players, work well with others, and have excellent attention to detail.

Successful candidates will need to complete a six hour wind mitigation accreditation that is provided by GFA.
GFA will furnish all necessary hardware and software to successfully execute the work.
Compensation: Hourly rate plus additional compensation per approved inspection and car allowance. GFA also offers a competitive benefits package.

Wind Mitigation
We are currently seeking individuals to fill inspector positions to perform Wind Mitigation Inspections per Florida Statute 626.0629.
Eligible applicants will need to fulfill one of the following criteria:
- Building Code Inspector certified under Section 468.607, Florida Statues
- General, building or residential contractor licensed under Section 489.111, Florida Statues
- Professional architect licensed under Section 481.213, Florida Statue
- Professional engineer licensed under Section 471.015, Florida Statues
- Independent adjuster who holds a license under Chapter 626, Part IV, Section 626.851.
Additional criteria may apply.
