Mold Testing & Remediation Design

Mold Testing & Remediation Design

Mold is a natural part of our environment; however, excessive mold growth in the indoor environment may cause harmful effects to occupants.  Our staff of Certified Industrial Hygienists, Florida Licensed Mold Assessors, and scientists are experienced in recognizing and understanding the issues involved in moisture intrusion and mold contamination, and can develop a sound, cost effective solution, our services include:

  • Mold and microbial contaminant assessments
  • Air testing for bioaerosol burden to genus level
  • Culturable fungal testing for species identification
  • Mold surface contamination testing
  • Wall cavity inspections
  • Moisture mapping, including infrared (IR) thermography
  • Mold remediation protocol design and project administration
  • Mold post-remediation verification testing

Asbestos/Lead Abatement Planning and Consulting

Asbestos/Lead Abatement Planning and Consultingasbestos

Asbestos is a set of six (6) naturally-occurring silicate minerals comprised of thin fibrous crystals, with each visible fiber composed of millions of microscopic “fibrils.”  Humans have been mining and utilizing asbestos for over 4,000 years!  Asbestos is used in building products for insulating purposes and to increase product resiliency and longevity. Asbestos surveys are required by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for virtually any renovation or demolition. Our staff of Certified Industrial Hygienists, Florida Licensed Asbestos Consultants, and technicians can guide you through the maze of OSHA and EPA regulations, our services include:

  • Asbestos Containing Materials (ACM) Building Surveys
  • Asbestos Abatement Project Clearance Testing
  • Asbestos Abatement Specification development
  • Asbestos Abatement Contractor Supervision and Project Administration
  • Asbestos Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Plans
  • Employee Exposure Negative Exposure Assessments (NEA) for OSHA compliance
  • Personal monitoring for OSHA compliance

HVAC Inspection and Design Review

HVAC Inspection and Design Review

According to the U.S. Department of Energy, 25 to 40 percent of the energy used for heating or cooling is wasted. Contaminants in the heating and cooling system cause it to work harder and shorten the life of your system. Although filters are used, the heating and cooling system still gets dirty through normal use. HVAC inspection consists of a comprehensive examination of the components and systems to determine whether they are contaminated with a significant accumulation of particulate or microbial growth, or if HVAC performance is compromised due to contamination build-up.

  • HVAC diagnostics
  • Microbial testing of cooling coils and interior air distribution surfaces
  • Legionella sampling in cooling towers
  • Air exchange rate calculations
  • Air distribution measurements
  • Testing for compliance with ACR/NADCA Standard for “Assessment, Cleaning, Restoration of HVAC Systems”

Water Intrusion Investigations

Water Intrusion Investigations

Water intrusion is one of the main contributing factors to building damage, structural damage, rot, and microbial growth that may lead to “Building Related Illness”. Our staff of Certified Industrial Hygienists, engineers, and scientists are experienced in recognizing and understanding the issues involved in building envelope water intrusion, our services include:

  • Moisture mapping, including infrared (IR) thermography
  • Blower Door testing for building envelope leakage
  • Calcium chloride testing for concrete moisture content
  • Fungal contamination testing
  • Remediation protocol design to dry out or remove water damaged building materials.

Comprehensive Industrial Hygiene Services

Comprehensive Industrial Hygiene Services

Industrial hygiene is the science of protecting and enhancing the health and safety of people at work and in their communities. Health and safety hazards cover a wide range of chemical, physical, biological and ergonomic stressors. Industrial Hygienists are dedicated to anticipating, recognizing, evaluating and controlling those hazards. GFA’s Certified Industrial Hygienists are dedicated to the well-being of people – at work, at home and in the community.  Our scope of services include:

  • OSHA Compliance monitoring for chemical, biological, and physical stressor exposure assessmentIndustrial Hygeine services
  • Air Quality testing for hazardous dust, fumes, and gas contaminants
  • Hazardous Materials evaluation and Safety Data Sheet (SDS) review
  • Health risk analysis and Hazard Communication
  • Worksite analysis with engineering, work practice, and administrative controls
  • Building contamination assessment and remediation
  • Review and recommendations for personal protective equipment
  • Water quality testing
  • Catastrophe Response services

Radon Testing Services

Radon Testing Services

The Surgeon General of the United States has warned that radon is the second leading cause of cancer in the United States today! Radon is a radioactive gas that has been found in homes and buildings all over the United States.  It comes from the natural breakdown of uranium in soil, rock, and water and gets into the air you breathe. Radon typically moves up through the ground to the air above and into your home through cracks and other holes in the foundation. GFA’s Licensed Radon Measurement Specialist can provide radon screening testing which meets the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) approved testing protocols for testing radon gas.

  • Short-term radon screening by Activated Charcoal Adsorption
  • Long-term radon screening by Alpha track detectors

Safety Starts Here-01Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Services
