Avida Senior Living

This project consists of the new construction of an approximately 546,854-square foot senior living development. The development sits on a 32-acre site and will have 272 apartments for independent living, 125 assisted living apartments, 35 memory care apartments, and 28 cottage-style residences. Also included in the construction is four outdoor courtyards, swimming pools and spa facilities, a private theater, dining hall, bar bistro, and a 24-hour nursing station.

GFA Services
  • GFA’s project management team assisted our client with obtaining the necessary Lee County vegetation removal permits and contracted, coordinated, and supervised a land clearing company for the removal of vegetation on the 32-acre site.
  • GFA performed a geotechnical exploration to provide foundation recommendations that consisted of eight, 35-foot standard penetration test borings and eight, 20-foot standard penetration test borings.
  • GFA provided an engineering field technician to perform vibro-replacement monitoring services and performed post-improvement confirmation testing which consisted of six standard penetration test borings to depths of 15 to 25 feet below finished grade.
  • GFA’s state licensed plans examiners performed plan review services for the structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and building disciplines in accordance with the criteria outlined within section 106 of the Florida Building Code.  
  • GFA is providing licensed and certified inspectors to perform private provider inspections as required by the municipal building department for building, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and gas components for the project. 
  • GFA is providing licensed and certified inspectors to complete inspections of firestop systems and fire-resistive joint systems as required by section 12.3.2 of the Florida Fire Prevention Code (FFPC) for buildings three stories or greater in height. 
  • GFA is providing licensed and certified inspectors to complete threshold inspctions for all reinforcing steel placement, shoring and re-shoring verification, concrete and grout placement monitoring, pre and post fill cell grouting, and structural steel components. 
  • GFA is providing engineering field technicians and a certified laboratory to perform construction materials testing for all soils and concrete material used for the project.
