Florida National University Parking Garage

This project consisted of renovations to an existing parking garage along with additions to the garage located on the Florida National University campus in Hialeah, Florida. The garage expansion included the addition of four floors to the existing garage, a new generator enclosure building, the relocation of the Florida Power and Light Company vault and associated site work. The new addition is approximately 167,00-square feet. 

GFA Services
  • GFA performed a geotechnical exploration consisting of six standard penetration test (SPT) borings to depths ranging from 50 to 70-feet below existing grade and two exfiltration tests to depths of 15-feet below existing grade. 
  • GFA provided a geotechnical field technician to perform pile installation monitoring services. 
  • GFA provided engineering field technicians and a certified laboratory to perform construction materials testing for all soil, aggregate, and concrete materials used for the project. 
  • GFA provided licensed inspectors to perform threshold inspections for reinforcing steel placements, shoring and re-shoring inspection verification, monitoring of grout and concrete placement, fill cell grouting, and structural steel connections.
