Harbor 26

This project consisted of the new construction of a marina and yacht club. The structures include twelve small 2-story garage/storage buildings, a Crew’s Club building which is two stories, a series of finger piers with a roof for the boat slips extending out into the South Fork of the New River, and a parking lot.

GFA Services
  • GFA performed a Geotechnical Exploration consisting of two standard penetration test borings to depths of 10-feet below existing grade, nine standard penetration test borings to depths of 50-feet below existing grade, and three standard penetration test borings to depths of 115-feet below existing grade within the water.
  • GFA performed a Limited Soil and Groundwater Assessment, which included installing nineteen soil borings using a GeoProbe drill rig via direct-push technology to collect soil samples for laboratory analysis. In addition, this also included installing five groundwater monitoring wells on the site to collect groundwater samples for laboratory analysis.
  • GFA provided Investigation Derived Waste which included contaminated well development and purge water disposal. GFA provided project oversight and report preparation.
  • GFA provided a Limited Sediment Assessment which consisted of sediment sample collection by using vibracoring from locations within the basin and basin entrance as requested. Dual sediment samples were collected from eight representative locations within the basin and basin entrance to supply enough sediment for laboratory analysis.
  • In June of 2017, GFA performed well abandonments on ten existing onsite monitoring wells. As part of project plans that include dredging in the canal waterway area and upland portions of the site, GFA prepared and implemented a Soil Management Plan, which includes framework for the proper handling, disposal, and documentation of impacted media produced during dredging excavations and subsurface construction activities.
  • During soil removal activities at the site, GFA directed the stockpiling of excavated material and conducted sampling for laboratory analysis prior to offsite transportation.
