Kississimmee River Restoration

This project consisted of the construction of a three bay ogee weir spillway and incidental related work. This included the installation of steel sheet pile dewatering cofferdam, installation of temporary and permanent access roads, site work, channel excavation, constructing a reinforced concrete spillway, fabrication and installation of three steel vertical lift gates with related electrical and mechanical work, installation of a telemetry system and installation of steel sheet pile wing walls. Work also included clearing and degrubbing, grassing, offsite soil disposal, and turbidity monitoring.

GFA Services
  • GFA prepared and managed a quality control plan for the duration of the project.
  • GFA provided certified engineering field technicians and a certified laboratory to perform construction materials testing services for all soils and concrete materials used for the project.
  • GFA provided engineering field technicians to monitor the sheet pile installation and performed turbidity monitoring.
  • GFA prepared an Environmental Protection Plan, including ecological work elements, provided construction personnel environmental awareness training, wild life bird monitoring and reporting, wetland delineation and protection, protection of fish and wildlife resources, and endangered species monitoring and protection.
