Jupiter Medical Center: Cancer Center

This project consists of the new construction of a 3-story, 75,000-square foot research and cancer treatment center. The three-floor building will feature a main atrium with a water feature and a two-story fish tank, as well as a cafe area and retail pharmacy. This project will also feature a renovation to the existing Cancer Treatment Center building that will turn an existing courtyard into a two-story addition with storage on the first floor and an operating room on the second floor. Estimated total cost of construction is $50 million.  The proposed location of the cancer center is currently a lake that will be backfilled.

Because of the location of the proposed building, GFA International used a specialized track rig to get into the tight working areas, as close to the existing lake as possible.

GFA Services
  • GFA performed a preliminary geotechnical exploration consisting of five lake bed probes and three 70-foot standard penetration test (SPT) borings, one 30-foot standard penetration test boring, and one 10-foot standard penetration test boring.
  • Once the lake is completely backfilled, GFA will be performing 4, 20-foot continuously sampled test borings
