Nicholas Parkway Waterline Replacement and Paving & Drainage Improvements

This project consists of the replacement of 7,000-linear feet of existing 8-inch PVC waterline with a new 12-inch PVC waterline within the southbound lane of Nicholas Parkway. The new watermain includes new valves, fire hydrants, service laterals and other fittings as well as modifications to curbing, sidewalks, and driveways to accommodate the upgrades. This project also includes adding left turn lanes at the remaining median openings, and installing curb and gutter adjacent to the medians along the length of the project, pavement resurfacing, pavement markings and signage, and drainage upgrades.

GFA Services
  • GFA performed a Geotechnical Exploration consisting of hand auger borings at 400 foot centers along the roadway, along the proposed waterline trench location for a total of 15 hand auger borings. GFA also obtained a total of 6 pavement cores in the curved portions of the roadway and on each end of the project for use in the pavement/resurfacing design.
